Privacy and cookies policy
Last updated: June 2026
This policy explains how Digital Cove collects and uses personal data when you use our website and our Google Business Profile service, and the choices and rights you have. We are the data controller for the personal data described here.
What we collect
When you use the free visibility check, we collect:
- The business name and town or city you enter, and your email address.
- The public Google information about the business you ask us to check.
- Standard technical data such as your IP address and browser, and how you reached us.
When you become a client, we also collect:
- Your contact details and the details of your business and its Google Business Profile.
- Photos and notes you send us, and the posts, replies and captions we prepare for your listing.
How we use it, and our lawful basis
- To run the check and provide the audit and service you asked for. Basis: performance of a contract, or steps taken at your request before a contract.
- To contact you about your results and our service. Basis: your consent, or our legitimate interest in responding to your enquiry.
- To manage your Google Business Profile on your instruction. Basis: performance of our contract with you.
- To measure and improve our advertising and understand site traffic. Basis: your consent, through the cookies described below.
- To meet our legal, accounting and tax duties. Basis: legal obligation.
Cookies and similar technologies
We use essential cookies that are needed for the site to work, including a small cookie that remembers your cookie choice. These do not need consent.
With your consent we also use analytics and advertising cookies and tags, such as Google Analytics, Google Ads and Meta, to understand how people use the site and to measure our ads. These only run after you accept them. You can change your mind at any time by clearing your cookies, which brings the consent choice back.
Who processes your data for us
We use a small set of trusted providers, each bound by a data processing agreement and used only to run the service:
- Supabase, for our database and for storing the photos you send, hosted in the United Kingdom.
- Vercel, for website hosting and delivery.
- Google, for the Business Profile data we audit and for managing your listing on your instruction.
- Anthropic, to help draft captions and post text from the information you give us.
- Google and Meta, for analytics and advertising, used only with your consent.
As we add features such as email and payments, we will use established providers for those and keep this list up to date.
Where your data is stored
Your data is stored primarily in the United Kingdom and the European Union. Where a provider processes data outside the UK, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the UK and EU standard contractual clauses.
How long we keep it
We keep client data for as long as you are a client and for a limited period afterwards to meet our legal and accounting duties. If you run a check but do not go ahead, we keep that enquiry for a limited period and then delete it.
Your rights
You have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to receive a copy in a portable form, to object to certain uses, and to withdraw consent at any time. To exercise any of these, email us at privacy@thedigitalcove.co.uk. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
Children
Our service is for businesses and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect data about children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
